Glass

Glass is the wild conclusion to an out of nowhere trilogy by M. Night Shyamalan.  Yes, M. Night is up to his old tricks of trying to fool the masses.  I have to admit that in the last movie called “Split” I had no idea that it was part of a greater universe including the movie Unbreakable.

The reason that this trilogy caught me off guard was that Unbreakable came out in 2000 and Split came out in 2016.  That is a pretty wide gap to continue a story.  Having said that, I believe that M. Night is back to a winning formula.  Unbreakable was a good movie and split I felt was solid as well.  With Glass it is the culmination of these three characters played by Bruce Willis, James McAvoy, and Sam Jackson.  The three characters all have special powers like you would think of in comics but the setting is that these three are living among the rest of the world not knowing about them.  Look this movie is hard to dive into because there are so many spoilers out there.  What I can say is that James McAvoy playing the character with 23 personalities is fantastic.  I believe that everyone’s favorite is when he is playing a 9 year old who loves rapping.  The one downside I would say about this movie is that if you haven’t seen Unbreakable or Split you will be completely lost.  This final film takes so much story line from Unbreakable that you need to see that to have any understanding of how these three men were brought together in the first place.

I do feel that M. Night did a great providing his usual twist which is nice to see again.  He has had his successes (Signs, The Sixth Sense) and some massive disasters (The Happening, The Village) so trust me when I say he added another good one to the list.  Overall if you have seen the previous two movies I highly suggest seeing Glass as it really ties together the movies and provides great answers and twists.  Glass is receiving 6.5 buckets of popcorn.  I am providing the trailer for all three movies below!

6.5 out of 10
